Year 6 Residential to Bewl Water Day 1

We left school to get on the coach at 10am and had a very pleasant journey through the countryside for an hour and a half. Spirits were high and everyone was looking forward to their first glimpse of the water. A huge cheer went up as the coach pulled in to the activity centre and a great deal of anticipation as to what the accommodation looked like!

The first thing we did was to meet some of the instructors we were going to spend time with and they talked us through the activities we would be doing. As there was another school there getting ready to leave we had to wait to get in our rooms and so we sat down to eat a lovely lunch of jacket potatoes with toppings of our choice and salad. After lunch we were taken to get our 'blues' (waterproofs) on ready for canoeing. Then we went out on the reservoir and were six to a boat, the weather was not kind to us that day and we all got very wet because it absolutely tipped it down with rain! We canoed a long way and played several games in the boats, most of us choosing to have a quick dip in the water! When we got back to shore we went back to the centre to warm up with a nice cup of hot chocolate that Tracey, our chef, had made for us. Then we were shown to our rooms where we could relax until dinner time. Dinner was a warming curry and rice with sticky chocolate sponge and custard for pudding. The evening consisted of playing in rooms or playing in the games room which had a pool table, table tennis and giant connect four amongst other games. Bedtime was at 9pm and heads down was at 10pm, although the teachers are not certain if that happened in all of the rooms!!
