We are thrilled to share the highlights from this afternoon's Year 5 Family Worship, where the entire school community gathered to witness the talents and achievements of our Year 5 students.
The worship kicked off with an energetic performance by the Year 5 students, who sang and danced to the uplifting anthem "This Is Me" from the beloved film "The Greatest Showman." Their enthusiasm and passion set the tone for the rest of the event.
Next, the students treated us to a delightful rendition of "Food Glorious Food" from the classic film "Oliver," showcasing their musical talents and stage presence.
In addition to the musical performances, the Year 5 students shared fascinating facts about workhouses, providing us with valuable insights into this important aspect of history. They also took turns reading work they had completed from their class book "Wild Boy".
The students then shared poignant poems they had written about the life and struggles of the "Wild Boy," demonstrating their creativity and empathy.
During the worship, the students also shared insights into their learning journey, including their one of their Words of the Week, "serendipity," and their shared writing skills. They showcased their writing abilities by reading excerpts from their work, incorporating elements from their "shared writing toolkit" such as connectives, fronted adverbials, -ly adverbs, and parenthesis.
The Year 5 children also shared their experiences from Beach School, where they had the opportunity to create stunning sand sculptures, and their class trip to Wingham Wildlife Park, where they enjoyed the beautiful weather and had a fantastic time exploring the park and learning about various animals.
In PE, the class have been focusing on dance, specifically rock and roll, and they dazzled us with a lively dance performance to "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets. Their energy and coordination were truly impressive, and it was evident that they had worked hard to perfect their routine.
We are so thankful to everyone who contributed to the success of the Year 5 Family Worship event, including the students, teachers, staff, families and friends who joined us in celebrating this special occasion.
