Year 5 and 6 were lucky enough to be invited to the book festival at The Quarterhouse this morning. The author delivering the workshop was Onjali Q Rauf, author of The Boy At The Back of The Class. She shared with us how her real life experiences have shaped the writing of her books as well as her many loves in life-including chocolate!
Rauf was inspired to write her first book, The Boy At The Back Of The Class, by her time spent at a refugee camp in Calais and this also lead to the founding of her charity ‘Making Herstory’, in which all funds raised from the sales of her books goes to.
Rauf explores current issues through her writing and aims to spread awareness and create a ripple effect throughout life.
It was a great way to spend our Monday morning.
