This afternoon, the Ducklings were delighted to welcome their parents and grandparents for a special Spring card-making workshop. We were also joined by Alys Mathers and Katie Gunne, our link Speech and Language Therapists, who came along to champion the importance of developing early communication skills.
During the session, children worked alongside their families to create bright and cheerful chick-themed cards. As they followed instructions and chatted about their designs, the activity naturally encouraged conversation, listening and turn-taking—key elements in building strong early language skills.
These shared moments not only support speech and language development but also nurture meaningful connections between children and their families. By creating opportunities like this, we’re helping to lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning, confidence and social development.
