Paralympian Footballer- Alistair Patrick Hesleton - visits St Eanswythe's!

Yesterday everyone had the exciting treat of meeting Alistair Patrick Hesleton. His story is inspirational.

Starting out at Wycombe Wanderers as a schoolboy, Alistair showed great potential from an early age, and was soon snapped up by Queen’s Park Rangers. The forward was prolific at Under-17 level, and featured a number of times of the reserve side before suffering a severe cruciate ligament injury.

In 2006, the striker was involved in a car accident which claimed the life of his best friend, fracturing his skull and causing him to spend two months in a coma. When he finally regained consciousness he was told he may never walk again. However, through sheer determination and perseverance Alistair recovered, going on to represent Great Britain in the football team for those with cerebral palsy and brain injuries.

The children all heard his inspirational story and then each class did workshops with him looking at perseverance, resilience and team work. They had great fun and learnt a lot. As you can see from the photographs the children really enjoyed their time with Alistair!
