Owls Explore the Coast

Owls have been looking at our beautiful coastline in Topic and today the weather was finally nice enough to go on a little adventure! We watched some funny videos about how important it is to protect the coastline- there were houses falling into the sea!

We have been learning about coastal features and coastal defences, so we headed out along The Leas and spotted lots of different examples. We were high above the shoreline, it was like we were really inside Google Maps! The children spotted groynes, predicted which way the tide was flowing, pointed out rocks and sea walls and even made a good guess at the direction of long shore drift. How lucky we are to live by the sea.
