Learning Skills with Shepway Sports Trust's Hockey Coach

Today was an exciting day at our school as we welcomed a special guest from Shepway Sports Trust – a hockey coach ready to ignite a passion for the sport in our students! Children from Years 2, 3, and 4 took turns to learn the basics of hockey, and what a thrilling experience it turned out to be!

Under the guidance of our knowledgeable coach, students were introduced to fundamental hockey skills, starting with the proper way to hold a hockey stick. With enthusiasm and patience, he demonstrated the correct grip, ensuring that each child felt confident and comfortable as they prepared to embark on their hockey journey.

Next up was dribbling the ball – a cornerstone skill in hockey. Students learned to maneuver the ball with precision, honing their control and coordination with every dribble.

Then the task of turning around cones with the ball? Our coach guided students through this drill, teaching them the art of quick turns and agile footwork – essential techniques for navigating the fast-paced world of hockey.

It was clear that our students thoroughly enjoyed every moment of their hockey session. To our fantastic coach from Shepway Sports Trust, we extend our heartfelt thanks for a truly fantastic day of learning and fun
