Hello Duckling Parents,
We’ve been having a blast during COOL time (Choose Our Own Learning), where our little ones get to explore, create and learn through play! It's been wonderful watching them dive into fun challenges that help build their skills in a relaxed, hands-on way.
Lately, some of the favorite activities have included creating CVC words. The children have been busy piecing together sounds to form words, whether it’s with magnetic letters, drawing, or even playing with playdough to shape the letters. It’s amazing to see them getting more confident in their reading and writing as they explore phonics in a playful way!
Another favourite has been pretending to be doctors, ‘fixing’ Mr. O’Neon.
The best part? These activities are more than just fun—they’re key to your child’s development in the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). Play is crucial for building cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. Through play, children practise problem-solving, develop fine motor skills, learn to work together and gain confidence. Plus, they’re expanding their language skills as they chat about what they’re doing and share their discoveries with friends.
We’re so proud of how much the Ducklings are learning and growing during this special time. Thanks for supporting their curiosity and creativity at home!
