Black History Day

As part of Black History Month, the whole school were lucky enough to take part in a fantastic workshop led by parents at the school.

The day started with a worship which outlined the history of each country: Gambia, Jamaica, Namibia, Senegal and Ghana. It was extremely interesting and we all learnt so much about each country- even the adults! We even learnt a traditional Ghanaian call and response song which got us up and moving! The whole school were feeling energised and excited for the day ahead.

Each class were able to experience a workshop in which there was a station for each country. At these stations were some traditional delicacies, art work and artefacts to deepen the children's understanding of each country. Some of the tasty treats included jollof rice, jerk chicken and even some fruit juice made from plantain!

It was truly a day to remember and the children gained so much knowledge and understanding of Black History.

A huge thank you to all the adults involved; it was a wonderful, informative and inspiring day.
