Last week in our Design and Technology class, we had a super exciting lesson all about BISCUITS! We got to taste different kinds of biscuits and compare their flavours, textures, and appearances. It was like a mini "Great British Bake Off" in our classroom. 😋
We tried so many varieties – Nice, Digestive, Ginger nuts, and more! After tasting each one, we rated them based on:
Taste – Was it sweet, buttery, or spicy? Did the flavours work well together?
Texture – Was it crunchy, chewy, or soft?
Appearance – Did it look good enough to eat? Was it well-baked and evenly shaped?
There were definitely some favourites among the group, and a few biscuits that got mixed reviews. It was really interesting to see how different everyone’s preferences were. Some people loved the rich, buttery Nice biscuits , while others preferred the crunch of a classic Ginger nut. But the best part was learning how to describe what we liked and didn’t like, which would be super helpful for our next project...
This week, we took everything we learned from last lesson and put it into practice. We got to make and bake our own biscuits!
In small groups, we mixed, rolled and shaped our dough – it got a little messy but that made it even more fun! After baking, the room smelled amazing. Once they were ready, we tasted each other’s creations and gave feedback, just like we did with the store-bought biscuits last week.
Overall, it was so cool to see how we could apply what we learned to our own baking.
